Butterflies...
The
butterfly flies with grace and beauty. Its transparent wings with iridescent
colors glow in the sunlight.
It starts its life as an egg growing into a caterpillar where it devours leaves
to develop strength to go though its metamorphosis. As a pupae (chrysalis), it
encases itself in a protective cocoon and then prepares for the metamorphosis.
It emerges from the pupae as a new creature, free to fly in the lightest of
breezes.
To many the butterfly is a symbol of transformation. It starts from humble
beginnings and literally becomes something else. Some see it as a symbol of what
we can each become. We too can transform ourselves. Some churches use the
butterfly to symbolize the transformation of Christ on the cross. Others see it
as the spirit of that force greater than us and its ability to transform our
lives.
